Sen. Lindsey Graham's sister says brother's intense work schedule led to his death
Sen. Darline Graham said she spent the weeks leading up to her brother's death urging him to "slow down," a message she shared with colleagues on late Sen. Lindsey Graham's budget committee on Wednesday.
"I knew it was not going to be good," Darline Graham said. "And I had already prayed, and knew in my heart, that one day something was going to happen. But I had peace in knowing that it happened with him doing what he loved. He was not going to stop. He loved serving the people of South Carolina. He loved serving this country. And ultimately, I feel like it took him from us."
Darline Graham's comments came during the Senate Budget Committee’s first meeting since the death of her brother, who was the committee chair. They served to affirm much of what Sen. Ron Johnson, a Republican from Wisconsin, described earlier in the meeting.
"He is irreplaceable," Johnson said. "He will be sorely missed."
